Ugg...........Ugly??

The Fairytale (Nightmare) Of The ‘Uggs’

 By Amy W

Once upon a time in a land far, far away (also known as Australia) sheep shearers and people in rural occupations wore sheepskin boots. Towards the modern era surfers in Australia wore them when they came out of the water. However thanks to ‘celebrity influence’ Uggs became one of the latest must have fashion items. Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Cameron Diaz were just a small handful of celebrities that began wearing these Ugg(ly) shoes.

Their fame rose so drastically due to the celebrity influence that over half the people in Manchester (and dare I say the rest of the world) now own a pair of Uggs. They are like aliens, taking over peoples SOLES!! As much as I dislike the Ugg fashion now because too many people are wearing them, I have to hold my hands up and admit I am an Ugg wearer! In fact it gets worse, I actually live in them and cannot remember what shoes I wore before these shoes came into the shops.

Long, short, heeled, patchwork, metallic and more – the list is endless. Some people allow these aliens to take over because they are part of the influential celebrity cult. Others like myself wear them because they are easy to put on and wear. However wearing them for comfort is not true. These aliens are no good for our soles, walking around in them all day 24/7 is a nightmare.

I’m not surprised if people are becoming flat footed with bad ankles. Fashionistas’ around the world are now contemplating whether or not these aliens can be destroyed. The dilemma arises from the simple fact that they themselves are wearing these little pests! There is only one reason and one reason only as to why I am beginning to despise Uggs and that is CHAVS.

More and more ‘fake’ Uggs are being worn by CHAVS and SCALLIES and to be honest it’s not a pretty sight. Not only are they ruining another brand, just as they did Burberry; they just don’t have a bloody clue how to wear them! Seriously who wants to see a ‘muffin top’ in a skirt, showing bare legs and UGGS??!! Just because girls are seen wearing mini skirts with Uggs does not mean EVERYONE has to do it!

Thanks to the invasion of the Uggs and the type of people wearing them, they will always be a nightmare in the fashion industry! On the other hand though, their fairytale continues, as I don’t think many people will be giving them up easily. You either love them or loathe them – so for now they live happily ever after.

The End
