Zuzu Couture gets hung and drawn in the Northern Quarter
Is this the beginning of the end?
By Ryan Cooper-Brown
Our team on the ground has informed us that Manchester design gem Zuzu Couture has buckled under the weight of the consumer slump. The eccentric one off fashion designer Fatz opened the independent stores doors early last year to much confusion, as many thought the Northern Quarter simply didn't have the foot fall to support a retailer as well as choosing to open at a time where the fate of Affleck’s Palace was undecided.
Although the brand had a good start to its life with loyal customers and good PR, it has now joined the ranks of hundreds of other brands receding form the high street, as the wave of the recession sweeps in. We would like to wish Fatz and the team every success in the future.
