Dresses and Cocktails at Karen Millen
There’s nothing quite as cheering on a rainy evening in Manchester as sampling cocktails and fashion at an event celebrating the collaboration between Karen Millen and the Italian liqueur Disaronno.
Even more exciting, beauty and style experts being on hand to give advice and styling tips. Nick Ede, an acclaimed stylist and judge on Project Runway, talked through styling, while make-up artist Lisa Eldridge, recognisable from 10 Years Younger gave the insider beauty info.
The event was held at the Karen Millen, King Street store on Tuesday 24th November and was filled with fashionistas and industry experts who spent the evening enjoying delicious cocktails, created by Ben Reed, world renowned drinks and bar consultant.
Guests were given the chance to browse the fabulously festive collection before being treated to a catwalk show through the shop showcasing Karen Millen’s key looks for the season, including the finale piece, a pale pink, tiered floor length gown given an edge with a buttery soft leather jacket which stylist Nick named “the Gossip Girl look”.
Nick talked through 6 final looks and later gave advice on the major trends for the Christmas period. Make-up artist Lisa Eldridge was also on hand to give some of her best beauty tips, with the catwalk show demonstrating her key party face.
And now the cocktails. Ben Reed’s creation – Mint Merriment – was a favourite. Made up of Disaronno, red wine, mint leaves and caster sugar, it was festive and fun and a “flavour combination that people don’t think about”.
“Disaronno is so versatile” and “You don’t even need a shaker – when I was a student I used a Nescafe tin to mix drinks”. So there you go, great cocktails can be achieved by everyone.
Ben also added that “London, Liverpool only did half the stock that the Manchester Karen Millen store took – Manchester has been flying the flag” which of course is no surprise as we know that Manchester is the party city!
