On Tuesday 9th February Epernay Champagne Bar played host to our ‘Power of Blog with Leon Bailey Green and Drapers Keely Stocker’ event. The event was sold out, drawing in a wide variety of fashion industry professionals and professional bloggers, from brands such as Harvey Nichols to Selfridges.

Manchester Fashion Networks very own Dale Hicks chaired the discussion, and kicked off with an introduction of our guest and the concept of blogging.

The debate raised the prominent question of ‘how does, or how can the fashion industry and its individuals use a blog as part of their brands marketing strategy, and the benefits of doing so?’. It was made clear that a professional brand blog should only be used to communicate brand personality, not for use as a online sales and advertising tool.

Both Leon and Keely went on to express their opinions and top tips for the future of blogging, which made for an interesting discussion. The future seems to lie within additional media within blogs, with the focus being upon video blogs, due to their accessibility and the notion of being less time consuming for the readers. Both Keely and Leon expressed their own personal desires to see much more personality in people’s blogs, and predicted that the next big upcoming stars will not stem from traditional medias such as print and t.v but from the blogging world, which we have started to see with the emergence of the likes of Perez Hilton, Susie Bubble and Tavi Gevinson on to the celebrity scene.

The event was a fantastic success, with all guest throughly enjoying the evening, and leaving the Epernay Champagne bar with a vast amount of sought after blogging advice and expertise.
