Louis Vuitton
Thanks to the internet we were able to get a front seat at the Louis Vuitton A/W '10 runway show at Paris Fashion Week only moments ago, without leaving the comfort of our office!
Marc Jacobs, the brains behind Louis Vuitton, provided us with an entirely different aesthetic to the S/S collection, moving from 70's roller disco looks to sophisticated and chic. Channeling Dior's 'New Look', there were plenty of under the knee length, full skirts in a variety of fabrics ranging from leather to wool.
Not one to stay in the past, Louis Vuitton was taken into the modern era with digital florals on classically cut dresses. The idea of contrast was a key factor to the show, my favourite example being ballgowns and oversized knitwear.
A very feminine silhouette was seen throughout the collection, with nipped in waists, large hips and tailored jackets. Heavy, structured fabric formed a solid base for the looks, creating a seamless flow throughout. These heavy fabrics were contrasted with lightweight, florals in order to create a softer side.
The Louvre was the setting for the show and this was very much reflected in the layout, using the fountain as a centre piece and having a clear tent similar to the architecture of gallery.
