Pretty Disturbia wins Brand of Manchester
The drinks were flowing, the models were posing and the S/S’10 collection from Pretty Disturbia was the topic of conversation all night at the exposé, hosted by The General Store in Barton Arcade on Deansgate.
The General Store, on two levels, reminds the shopper of Grandma’s attic with its overflowing chests of draws and hat stands. Impeccable attention to interiors has been paid which frames the exquisite clothing, from brands such as Ringspun, Religion and of course Pretty Disturbia. The collections residing within The General Store are strongly urban focussed and suitable for the urban-fashion conscious individual who appreciates dusty leathers, distressed hues and battered denims.
A select few of these urban-fashion conscious individuals sheltered from the torrential rain to witness the unveiling of, Mancunian brand, Pretty Disturbia’s S/S’10 line and munch on marshmallows.
The DJ span tunes worthy of a Prada catwalk and the models handed out bottles of Tiger beer and glasses of pink Champagne whilst small cliques of invitees posed in corners and admired the clothing. None of which, to my surprise, was from pretty Disturbia. It wasn’t until I had drifted upstairs and I found where the real party was at that I was confronted with the Pretty Disturbia collection. Cheeky vest tops were teamed with pearl necklaces and tiny Denim skirts to create a youthful look perfect for the city dweller; whilst printed tees featuring pretty disturbing illustrations were present in on-trend pastels. After a few smiles, hand-shakes and congratulations I snuck off into the menswear wing to find a little souvenir of the night. Said souvenir took the shape of a fabulous grey, printed tee from Religion. I must stop taking my wallet to such occasions!
More drinking and posing continued but a relaxed night of alcohol fuelled appreciation of fashion was coming to a close and so I headed for the nearest taxi grabbing a goodie bag on the way.
