The Outnet £1 Sale debacle

After an incredibly over hyped month of waiting for The Outnet £1 sale, where amazing designer goods were all marked down to £1, the day has finally arrived.

However, instead of celebrating their birthday in style and providing their customers with their favourite designers for a tiny fraction of the price, outrage has taken over the internet. Launching at 7.30 GMT it was the perfect time for us Brits, but for example, fashion addicts in the US were awake at 3am only to leave empty handed due to The Outnet's poor server.

I understand how difficult it must be for The Outnet to cope with this amount of traffic and I would be completely sympathetic in different circumstances but they knew exactly how many people would be online and wanting to buy as the guest list had been clocking up attendees for a month of so prior to the sale. Also, why promote the sale so heavily if they are not able to cope with a huge amount of customers?

The main brunt of outrage has been vented all over twitter with even The Guardian jumping on board and creating an article in order for the unhappy tweeters to let loose and have a little dig at the people who actually managed to get their hands on something. The Outnet twitter, instead of tackling the problem, chose to retweet all of the lucky ones who made it through to the checkout without being signed out.

I am not angry because I didn't manage to score any designer wares, more just at the lack of organisation and preparation of what is supposed to be a well established company with a reputation to uphold. I think this project backfired royally.

As I so eloquently tweeted; 'The Outnet £1 sale is like being invited to a party, picked up by a chauffeur and then being punched in the face on arrival.' an apt analogy I think you'll agree.

We have a very unhappy Alice after 2hours 45 mins and then sold out - badly planned and organised. Plus I never saw anywhere just one item per shopper ?
