Quiksilver invites Manchester Fashion to Play
It's Snowing In Manchester Thanks To Quiksilver !
By Chris Brooks
Quiksilver launched their new swimwear range earlier this week and MFN were there to check out the latest styles from one of the world’s leading outdoor sportswear brands. As Quicksilver has been running for almost forty years, MFN was keen to see what might have changed and how Quiksilver are still pushing things forward.
The setting for the fashion shoot, bizarrely for a summer collection was the main slope of the Chill Factor-e. Quiksilver have obviously not lost their tongue in cheek attitude towards fashion. MFN was allowed a preview of the models frolicking in the snow, in not nearly enough clothing for the temperature.
The models, all three from the cast of shipwrecked 2008 were adorned in swimwear, looking decidedly chilly, but stunning non the less.
Following the brief but busy photo shoot we were allowed back into the sunshine for a BBQ and general knees up and as the evening sun was setting, the beach boys were blasting out over the well manned DJ decks, and the inflatable surfing think bucking bronco, with a surfboard instead of a bull!
The collection for the coming season has taken a far more sophisticated turn, looking towards bold prints and simple patterns. Most of the collection utilises white edging to highlight the overall shape of the pieces.
The key trend for the women’s wear collection is side knotted briefs, bold primary colours interspersed with white, 70s bold prints and florals. Menswear takes its inspirations from The Indian summer, with the 40th anniversary of this brand approaching the feel of the clothing line has become distinctly vintage, think fabric patches, acronyms and washed out faded beachwear.
If Quiksilver keep producing beachwear to the calibre of the coming season MFN are sure that they’ll be around for another 40 years…
