Lego Is Back! New Jewellery Collection By Lisa Taylor
In a time in which the media and popular conversation alike seem to be a monotonous dredge of economic downturn, natural disaster and impending financial hardship. We need a pick-me-up.
What could be more wondrous idea than to shun the adult world and revert to an idyllic state of blissful ignorance and utter security , an endless whirl of sleep, playtime and Smarties, in which the most unjust occurrence was having one's Barbie Dreamcar hijacked by unscrupulous older relations.
Herald the debut of jewellery designer Lisa Taylor: purveyor of trinkets intended to allow one to descend into a world of unbridled kitsch kiddiness. In a daring move sure to arouse much love it/hate it debate, she has fused the world of the grown up and the child (kidult, as this has been dubbed) in the form of sterling silver rings adorned with interchangeable Lego pieces.
Part of Selfridges playtime themed Christmas collection, (which will also include a Playdoh scent and Lego nail polish) among the range of 23 Lego charms are Christmas trees and flowers. A quirky touch of the feminine sure to attract hardened girly girls for whom mock construction blocks were the domain of the boys at playgroup. Already featured in national newspapers, by December Taylor's designs are sure to be at the centre of the Christmas buzz. The range has such variety, including 15 different coulourways, there is certainly something for everyone, who looks back on past times of naivety with nostalgia. This is certainly one for those whom have grown from the sandpit into decent earners, however the rings themselves retail at £50, whilst the charms themselves will come in somewhere between £15-20. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more innovative ideas from Lisa Taylor, it's making us feel young again.
