Mix-d: Face 2010
Mix-d:Face is a modelling contest with a difference being the first of its kind in the UK to find the next ‘mixed- race face of 2010’. It is being hosted by Manchester based social enterprise Mix-d: in collaboration with Boss model management, Harvey Nichols and Vidal Sassoon.
Mix-d:Face will be trawling the country to find 20 finalists who will take part in a catwalk show, hosted by Angela Griffin, held at Monastery in Manchester on the 30th of October to battle it out in order to win a 12 Month contract with Boss Model Management. Money raised from the contest ticket sales will be used to help fund the ‘Mix-d: education Pack’ aimed at increasing understanding of current mixed-race issues.
Earlier this month Mix-d hosted a scouting event at Harvey Nichols, who will be providing the clothes for the fashion show, to search for finalists in Manchester.
Bradley Lincoln, founder of Mix-d comments “Over the last couple of years we have worked to remove the awkward silence around this subject and the event is an extension of the work we do, we’re excited to provide a new platform for mixed-race people to be present in the fashion industry.”
Lauren Mellor, Senior Model Booker for Boss Model Management says “We’re thrilled to partner with Mix-d: on this ground-breaking event and are looking forward to seeing the diverse talent that the show is sure attract.”
