Fred Perry For Liberty, A Blank Canvas

Collaborations in the fashion world are nothing new, in fact we have seen a major surge in them over the past few years.

Some have been well received and other's just seem as selling out, but the Fred Perry for Liberty's Blank Canvas collection has stuck me as one of the most interesting yet. Both having so much heritage, loyal customers and being quintessentially British,  where can this go wrong?

The range incorporates one characteristic from each of the brands, re-working some of Fred Perry's most popular garments with two iconic Liberty prints. Fred Perry quickly became the uniform with Mod culture in the mid 60s and has been instrumental in moulding the lifestyle which is still has strong as ever. They have been given the two timeless Liberty prints, Mark (paisley) and Edenham (floral), to play around with and re-work four of their most popular garments.

The collection, with is due to be release in April will feature, M12 polo shirts, short sleeve button up shirts and the iconic Harrington jacket. Fred Perry take full use of the Liberty print, using them all over the shirts and the polos and some are a bit more modest, just using the prints on the inner collar or the placket.

The collaborating is sure to be in limited numbers and will no doubt become collectors pieces. Any of which, I'm sure Paul Weller would have been proud to have owned in Mod's glory days down on Brighton beach.

The Blank Canvas collecting will be available at Liberty's in store and online from April.
