Mudpie
Fiona Jenvey, CEO of trend forecasting company Mudpie, shares her insight on Spring Summer 11. The evening will start with a short insight into the intelligence behind commercial fashion trends taking a brief look at the science behind fashion forecasting.
Spring Summer 11 is defined by the need for ‘Consideration’. Now that our universe of consumption has ended the post recession world is set for dramatic changes, not only economically but socially and ethically. Frivolous and materialistic buying habits are replaced with a desire for longevity, responsibility and spirituality. Mudpie look at 3 Trends which explore this overall theme:
Enlighten
Traditional styles blend with contemporary visions in a trend influenced by the rich and vibrant culture, unique travel and spiritual experience. As the old world blends with new technology and design, in countries such as India, a whole new culture is created.
Fable
A return to innocence manifests itself in a return to epic literary narrative and classic creativity. Idyllic, natural ways are underpinned by resurgences of fantasy ideals within cinema, fashion and design.
Sobriety
The material excesses are forgotten, in favour of a humble, wholesome existence. In fashion the return to simple classics and utilitarian values begins. Emphasis is placed upon authenticity and timelessness instead of conspicuous and needless consumption.
