England has long been recognised as home to some of the most stylish, individual and inspirational fashion icons, but what is it that makes English fashion so unique? 

Join Manchester Fashion Network and one of the designers behind Umbro's new England kit, Aitor Throup, in a discussion about the diverse cultural influences on the modern face of England and its design community. 

Hear how the Manchester Metropolitan graduate, born in Argentina, raised in Burnley and now creative consultant to Umbro as well as working on his own line, drew inspiration from England’s cultural heritage to create his award-winning graduate collection 'When Football Hooligans Become Hindu Gods'.  Aitor will talk about how he has continued to be inspired by football culture and contemporary design to construct England’s latest groundbreaking kit.   

The event coincides with the launch of Umbro's Tailored by England photographic exhibition, which explores English culture and celebrates the diverse face of modern England, in particular Manchester. 

The public exhibition takes place Friday May 8 and Saturday May 9 at Great Northern Amphitheatre Manchester and features over 190 nationalities living in England today who were photographed by Umbro to celebrate modern English culture. The images also show fourteen individuals from Manchester's rich cultural communities including people from Bolivia, Iraq and China.
