Fashion Swap Shop
When and Where:
Sunday 16th August 2009 from 3pm until late at Walrus Canteen and Lounge Bar, 78-88 High Street Northern Quarter, Manchester.

The Manchester Fashion Network will be going swap crazy this August with the help of our good friends over at Walrus canteen and restaurant, in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and we need your help!
‘We will frock you’ is grabbing onto the tail coats of the latest trend and giving you all the chance to bring along all your old frocks and swap them over for a brand new wardrobe, all for FREE! The swap shop is going to be kicking off at 3pm until 7pm and will be giving you girls and guys chance to pick up some fantastic new garments and lots more treats in store, including:
- Wine and Cup Cakes for £4.00
- New ladies drink 'EVE' will be handing out samples
- Live acoustic sets
- To Model Alex Leigh, will be on hand to give you fashion and modelling advice. Alex has graced the pages of Vogue, Harpers, Dazed & confused and cosmopolitan and has been photographed by some of the industries best including David La Chappelle, David Bailey and Rankin. So I think we are confident in saying she’ll be able to give all you ladies some amazing advice, all for free.
- Inner Sanctuary will be giving manicures and top industry tips.
- Phoebe Does Make Up’ armed with there makeup brushes and airbrushing gear for mini makeovers
- Irresistible lingerie doing bra fittings
- Renegade Marmalade showcasing their latest collections
- Julia Roy Williams selling gorgeous contemporary jewellery
- HussainDeyn
- Convert Candy
There will also be a competition that runs throughout the day for the best dressed lady. Prizes include:·
- 'A girl’s night in gift set’, courtesy of ‘EVE’.·
- A meal for two at Walrus·
- An item from Renegade Marmalades’ collection
- More TBC
It doesn’t stop there either; Walrus will be carrying on the treats into the night with a showcase of live acoustic music, giving you the perfect wind down to the weekend!
If you are interested in getting involved the concept is simple, dig deep in that wardrobe gather together all those clothes you never wear or always seem to be saving for that special occasion, bag them up (preferably on hangers if possible) and drop them in, marked clearly with your name and mobile number at Walrus, by 5pm Friday 14th August. At the swap shop you will be given your voucher specifying how many items you can have, based on the items you brought in. Please note, however many items you bring in, the maximum amount you can swap for is 10 garments.
If you have nothing to swap, items can be purchased also and all proceeds will go to Manchester based charity – Action For Sustainable Living.
Now for the boring bit: Please keep the clothes that you bring over either high street or designer, no tat, anything dirty or with holes in. Just remember the better clothes you bring then better clothes you will walk away with!
