Job Title: Garment Technologist/ Production Co-ordinator
Reporting to Head of Production Department
Summary of main purpose of the job:
To implement the Technical / supplier strategy for area of responsibility, driving continual improvement in product and process. To drive the development and production of product ensuring that it’s quality meets our customer’s expectations.
Skills Required:
A good knowledge in developing product for fit, quality and performance is an advantage. Garment construction, pattern cutting techniques and knowledge of the fitting process an advantage. Good knowledge of fabric testing standards and care labelling. A good understanding of fashion retail processes. A flexible approach to work. Strong communication· Good planning and org skills, able to change plans in line with business needs· Ability to risk analyse product· A flexible approach to work, you must have, enthusiasm, drive and a ‘can do’ attitude.
Main Responsibilities; Work with Production department to develop & fit garments in line with business needs. Work to identify new key shapes for the season and develop blocks where appropriate. Work closely with the team to produce clear instructions for suppliers which will result in correct sampling. Create product specifications where necessary. Risk analyse the range identifying and implementing wearer trials where applicable. Discuss potential risks with team and supply base and action as appropriate. Develop the product through the fitting and approval process with the Production department, ensuring that all standards of fit and performance are met. Review best and worst sellers post season to learn product lessons and implement improvements where necessary. Work alongside the production department locating QC issues to ensure commercially acceptable product reaches customers/ stores with the minimum amount delay.
This is an unpaid placement but expenses and a generous clothing allowance is provided.
Ideally the candidate will be able to start from August for 12 months
