ROLE Men’s Fashion designer
PURPOSE
The role reports to the Design director and works closely with Head of Sales.
The person will contribute to the definition of men’s collections, from the brief developed with the Design director and the trends analysis of the Fashion Market, to the development of the style proposals, to production of a comprehensive range.
PROFILE
- At least a 5 years experience in the fashion world, with a focus on menswear
- Skills required:
* Creativity, analysis capability, attention to details, graphic ability
* proactivity, adaptability, self-sufficiency
* capability to work by deadlines, organization and planning skills
* knowledge of textiles, colours and accessories
* knowledge of Excel & understanding of Critical Path management
* Understanding of sourcing, costing and logistics.
- Skillled in both illustrator / Photoshop
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- analyse and express Fashion trends thus contributing to the development of the business at all levels;
- define and develop garment designs, including graphics, patterns, colours, trims and accessories, in line with the creative theme assigned, while respecting the deadline.
- draw up technical packs to send to suppliers for each style, giving detailed information regarding garment CMT.
- draw up technical packs to send to suppliers for each style, giving detailed information regarding graphics and placement.
- arrange changes and adjustments on garments / graphics at sampling stage; carry out fitting and prototypes approval activities.
- manage Critical Path throughout sampling with attention given to key dates and deadlines.
MEETINGS
- Creative brainstorming ahead of design trips;
- Style and graphic proposals to be shared with the Creative Director;
- Range breakdown discussion with Creative Director & Head of Sales
- Design trip; 3 week overseas trip to develop and complete range design
- Sampling trip; 3 week trip to Hong Kong and China to develop and sample product.
- Line meeting with Head of Sales providing briefing on garments, fabrics, prints and applications.
- Collection presentation to National & International sales team.
TRIPS
- Design Trips; In past seasons we have been and designed our ranges in fantastic surroundings. Places such as Miami, Ibiza, Barbados, Reykjavik, to name a few. These are intensive design team only trips which are productive as well as rewarding.
- Sampling Trips; With our supplier base being mainly in the South China region we will take up residence in Hong Kong for three weeks, making 2 or 3 day visits to factories across the boarder to sample and perfect our design offering.
- Trade Shows; Continuing to develop our strong international profile, designers are required to be on hand for what is an exceptional opportunity to meet the entire sales force, to discuss nuances of their ranges and to take full advantage for new research within a polarized community of people from within the industry.
