Kidswear Designer 

12 Month Maternity Cover

Taking Direction from the Head of Design, create seasonal apparel collections for the Bench brand from initial concepts through to finished products. Liaise with the Design and Production teams to ensure deadlines are met and information is communicated accordingly throughout the development process.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

1.         Be proactive, propose and communicate new ideas to the Head of Design. Work closely with the rest of the Design team to maintain a consistent handwriting throughout the collection, share your ideas and inspiration with rest of the Design team.

 

 

2.         Research and gather seasonal trend information from a variety of sources including: The Internet (WGSN), Style Magazines, Exhibitions, inspiration trips and store visits.

 

 

3.         Predict and present trends to the Head of Design and the Design team. Utilise mood, fabric and colour boards to communicate relevant seasonal themes in a clear and concise manner.

 

 

4.         Considering all aspects of the product (silhouette, details, trims, graphics) and working from initial sketches through to CAD drawings design commercial Bench branded collections which translate to all Markets. Actively participate in Design reviews and ensure all Design work is completed within the deadlines set by the Critical Path.

 

 

5.         Create a detailed Technical Pack for each style and hand over to Production within the given time frames ensuring all information is communicated properly.

 

 

6.         Work with the Graphic Designers throughout the whole process to develop Graphics and Trims that enhance the end product.

 

 

7.         Liaise with the Fabric and Production teams at all stages to ensure Designs are interpreted correctly. Attend sample reviews/fittings and make comments when necessary.

 

 

8.         Be responsible for your own workload and assist other members of the Design team when required to meet deadlines. Ensure all Design information including CADs, Tech Packs and Overviews are correct and up to date. Communicate any Design amendments to the Production team as and when they are implemented.

 

 

Qualifications/Experience

 

 

Educated to Degree level in a Design based Subject.

 

 

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator.

 

 

Minimum 12 months experience working within the Apparel Design Industry.

 

 

Awareness of High Street Fashion is essential.
